Privacy notice
Last updated: 16 October 2026
SpellVenture is run by SpellVenture ("we"). This notice explains, in plain words, what we keep and why. If you have any questions, use our contact form.
What we keep
- Parent account: your email address and a password (stored scrambled, we cannot read it).
- Each child: a nickname you choose, their school year and a cartoon face. We do not ask for a child's real name, date of birth, school, photo or location.
- Spelling progress: stars, level, streak, which words were spelt right or wrong, and how many answers were given each day.
- Your word lists: the spelling lists you type in.
- Last visit date: so we can tidy away accounts nobody uses.
Why we keep it
Only to run the games, save each child's progress across devices and show you their progress. We do not sell your information, show adverts, or use it for marketing to children.
What we do not do
- No adverts and no advertising or tracking cookies.
- No chat, messaging or sharing between users.
- No links out of the app while a child is playing.
Cookies and storage
We only use storage your browser needs to keep you signed in and remember which child is playing and their sound setting. These are essential, so there is no cookie banner.
Who helps us
Our website and database are hosted by our app platform provider, which stores the data on our behalf. Account emails (such as the sign-up confirmation) are sent through the same provider.
How long we keep it
Until you delete it. You can remove a child at any time from the Family page. Accounts with no activity for more than 12 months may be deleted after review.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete the information we hold about you or your child through our contact form. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
